Pollution Operations Control Center at the Ministry take stock of the situation of Muscat beaches

Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs continues its efforts to prevent environmental risks, especially the marine pollution, and protect Oman’s water from any sources of marine pollution. The specialists of the Center observe the environmental risks on an ongoing basis and try to keep the territorial water away from any risk as much as possible. In addition, the Ministry cooperates and coordinates with different public and private institutions in the sultanate in order to keep the Omans environment free from any environmental pollution. The specialists of the center visited coasts adjacent PDO and ORPIC to detect if there is any case of pollution at the beaches. Eng. Omran Mohammed Al-Khamzari, Director of Pollution Operations Control Center at the Ministry, said that pollution can disrupt the ecological systems leading to imbalanced food chain which might negatively affect economic, social and environmental aspects of life. He urged citizens to report cases of environmental violations or environmental pollution ay the Ministrys Hotline (80071999) for their safety and to protect the environment surrounding them. He confirmed that the Ministry take immediate action with regard to any communication related to environmental pollution, especially if it has a direct impact on citizens health ans safety, and that the Ministry has established 24-hour hotline to receive complaints from citizens about any problem threatening the environment.
