Climate Affairs

The ministry is keen to promote environmental awareness and enhance the concepts and requirements for dealing with the environment and climate affairs at all levels and support the principles of sustainable development through managing, following up implementation, and evaluation of the Climatic Affairs, in addition to ensuring the safety of the environment and combating pollution and preserve the ecological balance in the context of sustainable development goals, and develop business relationships of environmental and climatic areas between the Sultanate and other countries.

You can take actions to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Here are some examples of free or low-cost actions you can take every day. Share them with your friends and community — together we can make a big difference.

The Sultanate’ Of Oman has ratified to both the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and its amendments in London, Copenhagen, Montreal and Beijing as per Royal Decrees since 1998. This comes from its belief in supporting efforts of the international community to address the challenges of various environmental problems, including the depletion of the ozone layer and confronting challenges facing environmental, climatic and ecological systems..

  • Join in activities to observe International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer .
  • Avoid the consumption of gases dangerous to the ozone layer, due to their content or manufacturing process
  • Commute responsibly to reduce your transportation emissions, and go for  public transport, car pooling 
  • Do not use cleaning products that are harmful to the environment

Earth Hour is a global movement that encourages people to conserve power. People are encouraged to switch off the lights for half an hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, their local time
